Eligibility and Criteria for Admission to the MSc in Ship and Marine Technology

The MSc in Ship and Marine Technology is open to graduates of Greek universities and recognized foreign universities whose degrees are equivalent to those awarded by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), as specified by Greek Law 4957/2022. Applications are particularly encouraged from graduates of NTUA and other engineering schools, as well as from those with degrees in Physics, Mathematics, or related disciplines. Final-year university students expecting to graduate by September 2023 are also invited to apply.

Eligibility

  1. Degree Requirements:

    • Graduates from engineering schools or departments (e.g., Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering).
    • Graduates from Greek Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) or equivalent accredited foreign institutions with a background in Physics, Mathematics, or related fields.
  2. International Applicants:

    • Candidates holding a BSc or equivalent degree from foreign universities that are recognized as equivalent to Greek HEIs.
    • Preference is given to applicants with integrated master’s degrees or combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from recognized institutions.
  3. Final-Year Students:

    • Students in the final year of their undergraduate studies may apply, provided they will have completed their degree prior to the start of the MSc program.

Admission Criteria

The following criteria will be taken into account for admission:

  • Undergraduate Degree Grade: A minimum overall grade of 6/10 (or equivalent for foreign institutions) is required.
  • Class Ranking: The ranking of the applicant’s degree grade in comparison to other graduates from the same department and academic year.
  • Relevant Course Performance: Performance in undergraduate courses relevant to the MSc program.
  • Undergraduate Thesis: The grade and relevance of the applicant’s undergraduate diploma thesis.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in foreign languages, particularly in English.
  • Research and Professional Experience: Any research activities or relevant professional experience.
  • Published Work: Any published scientific work will be considered.
  • Additional Postgraduate Degrees: Possession of another postgraduate degree will be seen as an advantage.
  • Recommendation Letters: Letters of recommendation will also be evaluated.
